Local Forecast -- June 7, 2011

Discussion:

Another warm day will be on tap for the area as high pressure over northwestern Mexico continues to be the main weather feature over the area.  A weak shear axis associated with an upper level low over the central Gulf of Mexico brought rain to locations east of the area yesterday evening.  The moisture over that area is much higher than it is over the target area and with lack of a suitable forcing mechanism, the area stayed dry last night.  The low will start to meander a bit further east tonight and tomorrow, allowing high pressure to build into all of south Texas for the next several days.  This will translate into hot and dry conditions for south Texas through the weekend.  Early next week, one computer model breaks off some of the moisture associated with this low and move it towards south Texas early next week.
